This multipurpose indoor stadium is a part of the sports complex proposed at laloor,Thrissur.Apart from the stadium the project also includes  a  synthetic  football  stadium,astro turf hockey  stadium,two tennis  courts,a swimming  pool ,training  hostels & administration  blocks.The  sports  council was particular in bringing up the building in a vernacular style.

Design approach: The  proposed  site is  that  category  of  land which the   society considered to be a waste dumping area for years. The project was aimed at clearing this wasteland & utilisi- ng it for revenue generation thereby enhancing the sports sector of the district.The project is initiated by the by the directorate of sports and youth affairs,kerala.Thus clearing of these ‘years of wastes’ creates a level difference in the land which is utilised completly in the design.

The main design principle was to bring about a100% space utilised building.Thus the proposal was made for an iindoor stadium with a convention centre beneath it and the space below the  galleries  are  used  as commercial spaces.The convention centre is at the basement floor withan exclusive entry from the east side  of  the plot followed by the indoor stadium above it with an entry from the west such that  the crowd is always separated.
